Launching the community engagement strategy at FirstGroup

FirstGroup asked t4c to plan, deliver and review a series of networking events which launched the community engagement strategy to senior UK managers from First Rail and First Bus and which enabled the managers to develop and ultimately deliver shared community engagement plans.

These events were part of a campaign to launch a ‘best practice’ approach to identifying, engaging with and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with the wider ‘external’ community of the Group. The interactive ‘group think’ events were delivered across the UK during 2014 to an average audience of 40 managers at a time. t4c brought the views of the local communities and stakeholders into the sessions and facilitated active discussions to develop networking and practical plans.

Feedback from Kate Broome, Group Head for Corporate Responsibility said:

‘..A chance for me to reiterate to my comms colleagues how nice you guys are to work with. They were very impressed at the events…

Both Kate and Dave Alexander, Regional Managing Director for UK Bus agreed that the key elements included:

‘Using drama to illustrate perspectives worked, high quality facilitation is essential – energy, credibility, outputs all influenced by this, and having the same facilitation/acting team ensured consistency. Engagement levels on the days was high’
