Developing effective and dynamic team working behaviours at Chiltern

During 2020 and 2021 train4change worked with the Operations and Engineering Directorates to define and then develop the leadership behaviours which successfully drive effective team working between the Driver Management and Operational Safety teams.

Using a combination of one to one coaching, mentoring, and research interviews supported by larger scale open forum facilitated events the Directors and Senior leaders completed a shared review of each teams’ strategies to ensure their alignment, confirmed their interdependencies and enabled a collaborative and complementary approach to their delivery. Once the strategies were agreed, the senior leaders cascaded the strategic intent to their middle/junior managers and consulted with them to create the tactical and operational delivery plans.

Feedback from the programme included:

‘We’ve spent time getting to know each other to develop a consistent way of working in order to build a safer sustainable way of working.’

‘This has been about a positive message to protect our reputation, overcoming barriers, valuing the importance of the work that we do well, and building strength in unity.’
